The history of Mitta Mitta Primary School

    The school opened as a common school in 1869. It was known as Snowy Creek Common School when it opened. The first head teacher was Thomas J. Murray. 

  • 1870s

    There were 59 students enrolled in 1870 and the average attendance was 36.

    The school became a state school at some stage between 1873 and 1874. 

  • 1880

    The school was renamed Mitta Mitta State School in 1880.

  • 1970

    The school was renamed Mitta Mitta Primary School in 1970.

  • 2022

    Mitta Mitta Primary School is still in operation.
