The history of Pennyweight Flat State School

  • 1858

    Pennyweight Flat opened as a national school in 1858.

    The school was 11 kms south of Castlemaine on the Castlemaine-Daylesford Road. The area was rich with gold at the time.

    The first head teacher was Joseph Haynes.

  • 1877

    The school closed in 1877.
