2026 Victorian Bushfire Appeal

Your generosity will support the rebuilding of lives, livelihoods and the communities of those affected by the January 2026 Victorian Bushfires.

Depending on the amount of donations we receive, additional Victorian Bushfire Appeal funds may go to:

• immediate assistance, relief and delivery of services to support individuals and their communities through this traumatic event
• community identified projects and programs that support and instil a strong sense of community spirit and community recovery.

We are continuing to engage with a variety of organisations on both the impacts of the bushfires and need of each community, with a number of grant programs now in place and other fundraising activities underway. VERRF is focused on building on these existing supports to ensure the broadest cross section of the community are able to receive the assistance they need to commence their recovery journey from this traumatic event.

GIVIT is a charity with established relationships across the communities impacted by the bushfires. It is experienced in managing the timely distribution of essential goods and materials to people impacted by disasters and emergency events. By collaborating with charities such as GIVIT, your donations can reach individuals and communities most in need quickly.

GIVIT has confirmed:

• 100% of the donated funds will be used to provide essential goods and materials to individuals and households impacted by the January 2026 Victorian Bushfires. No administrative or program management costs shall be deducted from the funding provided.
• All goods and materials will be locally sourced wherever possible, to support community recovery and to stimulate local economic activity.
• Funding will not be used to duplicate any government-funded programs.

100% of the money you donate to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal 2026 goes towards supporting the relief and recovery of people and communities affected by an event. Your donation will not be used to cover any administrative costs.

Funds will not go towards other government initiatives or to relief and recovery programs traditionally funded by a local, state or federal government.

The Victorian Government has a range of grants and services in place to assist individuals, households and businesses impacted by the January 2026 Victorian bushfires, more information can be found at Emergency Recovery Victoria.

VERRF does not accept non-monetary donations such as food, household items and livestock feed.

If you would like to donate goods or volunteer your time you are encouraged to reach out to other charities, for example GIVIT.

The 2026 Victorian Bushfire Appeal is the first time VERRF has been activated to administer funds received from the public.

VERRF was registered and received charitable DGR1 status in December 2023. The purpose of the organisation is to administer state led appeals when activated by the Minister for Emergency Services.

The January 2026 Victorian bushfires are the first significant event since VERRF was established.
