This school is the successor to Dunkeld State School No. 183.
The Group School was established in 1952. The school was proclaimed a consolidated school on 23rd April 1956.
Amalgamation in 1998: Glenthompson Primary School No. 947 became a campus of Dunkeld Consolidated School No. 6215. The Glenthompson Campus was de-staffed in March 2012 due to low enrolments and was closed on 7 October 2013.
