The history of Eltham Primary School

    Eltham opened in 1856. The head teacher was David G. Clark. The schoolhouse was big enough for 70 students.

    There were 37 students going to school in 1857.

    The school became a common school in 1862.

  • 1870s

    The school became a state school at some stage between 1873 and 1878.

    The school was renamed Eltham Primary School in 1970.
