Sunbury is a step closer to getting a new TAFE. Construction has begun on Kangan Institute’s exciting new campus in the centre of town.
When the campus opens in 2028, students will be able to train for in-demand jobs in areas like:
- digital technologies
- hair and beauty
- education support, for roles like an education assistant or home tutor.
Courses in foundation skills like literacy and digital competency will also be offered, providing pathways to jobs or further study.
Some courses at the new campus will be available through Free TAFE. More than 252,000 students in Victoria have benefited from Free TAFE since it began in 2019. This has saved them $871 million in tuition fees.
Of the people who have accessed Free TAFE in Victoria, more than:
- 145,400 were women
- 76,100 were from cultural and language diverse backgrounds
- 62,100 were unemployed.
While the new campus is being built, Kangan Institute is offering courses through the Hume Global Learning Centre. Locals can study English as an Additional Language or the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
The Victorian Government’s $25 million investment in the Sunbury TAFE campus is through the $170 million Building Better TAFE Fund. We're ensuring students have the best facilities to train in, close to home.
