1955: Ballarat North Technical School opened. It was controlled by School of Mines Ballarat (SMB).
1959: The school detached from SMB.
Name change in 1990: Ballarat North Technical School No. 7025 changed its name to Midlands Secondary College No. 7025.
Merger in 1993: The following schools merged to form Ballarat Secondary College No. 8828:
- Wendouree Secondary College No. 8464
- Midlands Secondary College No. 7025 and
- Ballarat East Secondary College No. 7545.
Each school remained in its location and became a campus of Ballarat Secondary College No. 8828.
De-merger in 2019: The Ballarat Secondary College No. 8828 demerged as follows:
- The Wendouree campus kept the school number but became Mount Rowan Secondary College No. 8828.
- The Midlands campus closed.
- The Ballarat East campus became Woodmans Hill Secondary College No. 8491.
