Bentleigh and Elsternwick libraries are extending their opening hours, giving Glen Eira residents more time to visit when it suits them.
During extended hours, you'll be able to access library collections, borrowing and return services, WiFi, public computers, and printing, scanning and copying facilities.
Safety upgrades include better lighting, new security cameras and movement sensors. Improvements have also been made to IT and access systems to support after-hours use.
The changes are part of the Victorian Government's 2025-26 Living Libraries Infrastructure Program. The program contributed more than $55,000, and Glen Eira City Council matched the funding.
The Living Libraries Infrastructure Program
This program supports the provision of library facilities that meet the needs of communities and, in doing so, enhances the role of libraries in strengthening communities and encouraging opportunities for community participation. It helps with literacy, skills development, access to technology and free activities for children across Victoria.
Over the past 11 years, the Victorian Government has invested more than $57 million in 176 library projects. These projects improve access to learning and help bring communities together.
Local Government Victoria is part of the Department of Government Services.
