Sahar Gholizadeh is a registered nurse with a background in community health and education. Sahar is the voluntary president of the Australian Iranian Society of Victoria. She uses technology and social media to forge strong community connections and provides essential information on health issues and services to the Australian Iranian community.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sahar touched and enriched the lives of many Iranian and Farsi speakers particularly those who were vulnerable or less able to help themselves. As a volunteer, Sahar reached out to senior citizens, women and children affected by family violence, temporary and student visa holders and asylum seekers. Sahar also supported people who lost their jobs or businesses or lost a family member due to COVID-19, referring individuals to services and organisations.

Today, Sahar is supporting Iranian women who are fighting for their own liberties. Sahar dedicates this award to the brave Mahsa Amini.
