Upcoming hearings

The Victorian Racing Tribunal (VRT) publishes a list of upcoming hearings every Friday for hearings scheduled in the following week.

Unless otherwise ordered by the Tribunal, all hearings are open to the public.

Hearing format

Remote hearings

Most hearings are conducted via Microsoft Teams, allowing observation by audio or video link.

In-person hearings

Hearings are also held at our Melbourne CBD hearing room, with some hearings conducted in regional locations.

Due to limited seating at the Melbourne venue, public access is generally provided via a live Microsoft Teams stream.

Observing a hearing

Members of the public who wish to observe a hearing are encouraged to contact the VRT Registry by email at registry@vrt.vic.gov.au.

Conditions of attendance

Observers must comply with the Court Security Act 1980, which sets out requirements to ensure the security, good order and proper management of hearings.

Under this act:

  • carrying prohibited items or recording proceedings without authorisation is an offence
  • authorised officers may remove any person who refuses to follow directions or is likely to disrupt the hearing
  • the use of cameras and recording devices is restricted within a hearing premises.

Attendance is conditional upon adherence to these requirements.
