Applications for round one of the 2026-27 Provisionally Registered Teacher (PRT) Grants program will open at 9 am on Monday 10 August 2026.
Moving from provisional to full registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching is an important step in a teacher’s career. It demonstrates their proficiency against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. The PRT Grants program helps services to support PRTs through this process.
Approved providers can apply for funding of $3,370.40 (excluding GST) per PRT.
You can use the funding for:
- paid time release, travel and accommodation expenses
- employment of a casual relief teacher to backfill the PRT and/or their mentor while they work together to meet the requirements for full registration
- costs associated with professional learning that supports the PRT to move to full registration.
How to apply
To apply, create an account or log in to the PRT Grants Program Portal. Applications must be submitted by an authorised representative of an approved provider.
Applications will close at 5 pm on Friday 4 September 2026.
