Important

This tool:

  • does not show eligibility for children born after 2025
  • calls 4-Year-Old Kinder by its old name, 'Pre-Prep'.

For the most current information, check the roll-out schedule.

Where to start

Once you have chosen a service and understand fees, the next step is to enrol.

You cannot enrol through this website.

There are 2 ways to enrol:

  • through your local council
  • directly with the service you want your child to attend.

How you enrol depends on where you live and whether the local council uses a central enrolment system.

Speak with your local council or preferred service to start the process.

Understand registration and enrolment

Applying for a kinder place is called registration.

When you receive an offer for a kinder program and accept the place, this is called enrolment. You may also need to give more information to the service at this stage.

Some councils use a central enrolment process called the Central Registrations and Enrolment Scheme (CRES).

Helpful tips

  • Services and some councils may charge a fee to register. This fee may be refundable.
  • If a service is full, it may place you on a waitlist.

Information you need to provide

You will need to provide the service or council with the following information:

  • your child’s name, address and any special needs
  • information about you and any other parents, carers or guardians in your child’s life
  • details of people who can collect your child
  • your child’s birth certificate or other identity documents
  • your child's medical health and immunisation status
  • details of any parenting orders or legal matters about your child’s care or safety.

The service must keep your information private.

'No Jab No Play'

To confirm your child's enrolment, you need to provide a current immunisation history statement.

This is known as No Jab No Play(opens in a new window).
