Teaching in Victoria offers you an opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of your students and the broader community.
To start your journey to become a teacher, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Apply to study one or more approved pathway programs into a school teaching degree
Pathway programs help you build the academic and practical skills you need to start an undergraduate teaching degree.
These programs are for people who do not meet the requirements for direct entry into an undergraduate level school teaching degree.
If you are unsure of whether you meet the requirements for direct entry into a teaching degree, please reach out to your preferred teaching degree provider.

Step 2: Apply to study an undergraduate level school teaching degree
In Victoria, you can study an undergraduate teaching degree at many Initial Teacher Education providers (where you study to get your teaching qualification). You can choose primary, secondary or specialist school teaching, and study part-time, full-time or online.
Some Initial Teacher Education providers also offer employment-based teaching degrees. These allow you to work in a school while you complete your degree.
There are also incentives available to help you get into teaching, like scholarships or fellowships.
