All child employment licence holders can request a variation to the:
- licence period
- licence conditions
- employer details
- nominated officer or employer representative details.

Apply for a variation to work hours and rest breaks
There are restrictions on children’s work hours and requirements for the rest breaks they receive.
Holders of general child employment licences can request a variation to the:
- hours of work
- start and finish times
- rest breaks.
Applications must:
- be made in writing
- give reasons for the proposed variation
- be emailed to Wage Inspectorate Victoria in advance of the work in question.
Apply for a variation to the Mandatory Code of Practice for Employment of Children in Entertainment
An entertainment child employment licence holder can request a variation to requirements under the Mandatory Code of Practice for the Employment of Children in Entertainment 2014.
Applications for a Code variation must:
- be made in writing
- contain reasons for the proposed variation
- emailed to Wage Inspectorate Victoria in advance of the work in question.
A variation will only be granted if it can be established that the health, education and moral and material welfare of the child or children will not suffer because of the variation.
