The Commissioner leads Better Regulation Victoria and supports Victorian Government agencies with designing and implementing best practice regulation.

The Commissioner meets regularly with industry groups, peak bodies, regulators, businesses, research bodies and government agencies to understand their interactions with different parts of the Victorian economy.

Meet the Commissioner

Katrina McKenzie is the Commissioner for Economic Growth and Better Regulation in Victoria, providing independent, data-driven advice to government on better regulation and economic issues affecting Victoria’s productivity and growth.

She leads Economic Growth Victoria and Better Regulation Victoria, focusing on identifying practical, system-wide reforms to improve productivity and support inclusive economic growth. This includes improving outcomes for businesses, communities and the Victorian economy, and contributing to Victoria’s target of reducing regulatory burden by $500 million by 2030.

Katrina has extensive leadership experience across Commonwealth, state and local government, and has held senior roles in the economic and regulatory sectors, including at the City of Melbourne and within statutory authorities. She works across government, industry and the community to deliver effective and balanced reform.

Katrina holds a Master of Innovation and Service Management and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She has been recognised as an IPAA Top 50 Public Sector Women and is an IPAA Victorian Fellow.

The Regulators’ Forum

The Commissioner chairs and convenes the Regulators' Forum - a regular meeting which brings together the leaders of Victoria’s largest regulators and relevant departmental staff.

The Forum is an important vehicle through which best practice can be shared. Guest speakers of interest to regulators are regularly invited to attend.
