In 2024, the Victorian Training Awards will celebrate the achievements of Victorians within the TAFE and training sector for the 70th year.
Minister for Skills and TAFE Gayle Tierney today opened nominations for the awards, which honour Victorian apprentices, students, teachers and trainers, employers and training providers across 15 categories.
The awards include the Lynne Kosky Memorial Award for Lifetime Achievement, which was awarded to the late Professor Peter Noonan last year to honour his role in shaping Australia's tertiary education system policy.
Training organisations Melbourne Polytechnic and TAFE Gippsland were also among the 2023 winners, alongside businesses Jayco Australia, New Plumbing Solutions and Beaufort & Skipton Health Service.
The 2024 winners will be announced at the Victorian Training Awards gala ceremony in August 2024 and will each be awarded $5,000.
The Victorian Training Awards acknowledges the support of the Awards’ Principal Partner 2022 to 2024, the Apprenticeship Employment Network (AEN) and the Global Apprenticeship Network (GAN Australia).
Since 2014, more than $4 billion has been invested to rebuild TAFE and support universities and higher education, ensuring all Victorians have access to high-quality education and rewarding career pathways.
Free TAFE has removed barriers to training and created pathways to a great new career by providing government subsidised training in more than 80 priority courses. Since Free TAFE was introduced in 2019, more than 153,000 students have saved more than $394 million in tuition fees.
