Local Skills Partnerships Program

We support Victorian TAFEs and other registered training organisations to collaborate with industry to address locally-based skills training needs

The Local Skills Partnership Program was developed to support priorities identified in Victorian Skills Plans(opens in a new window) and Regional Skills Demand Profiles(opens in a new window), and respond to issues raised by Industry Advisory Groups and through other industry consultation.

The grant program helps regions to identify skills challenges, think innovatively about solutions, and pilot programs which are scalable and will benefit the whole Victorian vocational education and training system, as well as different industry areas and communities across the state.

Place-based, co-designed projects ensure that regional, industry and government skills priorities are supported.

Since 2024, almost $1.19 million has been allocated to Victorian TAFEs and Traditional Owner groups through an invitation process to deliver projects. Phase 1 of the Local Skills Partnership Program provided almost $647,000 in grants in 2024, whilst Phase 2, announced in May 2025(opens in a new window), provided $540,000.

Each of the program’s projects is overseen by local partnerships comprising community, First Nations Peoples organisations including Traditional Owner Corporations, TAFE and industry, and supported by the VSA through the provision of statewide and local knowledge, supply of data and ongoing stakeholder engagement.
