The courses have been developed to support Victorian industry and community needs where there are no existing packages or endorsed units available.
Usage
The following Victorian Crown Copyright accredited courses are owned by the department and available to download for free.
Section A of the documentation includes information on permissions for use. Section B provides course information, including content and course rules.
Registered training organisations will need to apply to their VET regulator (ASQA, the VRQA or WATAC) to request addition of any of these courses to their scope of registration.

The 22497VIC Course in Concrete Precast Rectification provides an accredited training program and vocational outcomes for a person to be employed as a concrete precast rectifier/patcher and repairer.
The course does not align with any specific AQF level, but rather complements existing competencies gained by workers in the building and construction industry. Therefore, it is appropriately designated as a ‘Course in Concrete Precast Rectification’.
On completion of the 22497 VIC Course in Concrete Precast Rectification, participants will have the skills and knowledge to:
- identify hazards and associated risks when working in a concrete precast rectification role
- assess and determine appropriate patching and repair methods and material requirements
- plan and safely prepare for concrete precast patch and repair tasks
- make accurate calculations, measurements and judgements for product mixing and material consistency
- employ appropriate curing techniques for cement, grout and epoxy materials

Course purpose

Course purpose
The re-accredited pre-apprenticeship course will continue to provide young people with the opportunity to gain a strong skill and knowledge base related to their selected trade sector.
Research during the re-accreditation process indicates that a pre-apprenticeship helps students decide if they are suited to a trade career.
It teaches students skills and knowledge, and boosts student's literacy, numeracy and general employability. The learning outcomes include:
- communication skills for the construction industry
- workplace safety and site induction
- determining opportunities and pathways, and applying for work in the construction industry
- identification of different building structures and components and sequencing of activities in the construction industry
- application of mathematical calculations in the construction industry
- safe erection, use and disassembly of restricted height scaffolding and working platforms
- selection and application of levelling techniques
- identification of quality principles in the construction industry
- safe use and maintenance of general construction plant and selected portable power tools
- identification of processes and activities in construction which improve environmental sustainability
- interpretation and production of documents and plans used in the construction industry

The Certificate II in Plumbing (Pre-apprenticeship) will prepare graduates with the skills and knowledge for entry into an apprenticeship (Certificate III in Plumbing) in one of the various sectors of the plumbing industry.
This qualification has a range of units that introduce the learner to basic plumbing skills and knowledge including:
- working safely as part of a team
- measuring and calculating
- using basic industry terminology to communicate effectively
- reading plans and specifications
- selecting and using plumbing tools, equipment and materials
- producing simple technical drawings
- using basic welding equipment

This pre-vocational course is primarily for school leavers and other new entrants wishing to prepare themselves to gain a traineeship, apprenticeship or other employment in the electrotechnology industry.
The course provides an overview of the industry, employment opportunities and the training pathways available.
It includes training in the basic fundamentals of:

- telecommunication
- refrigeration
- air conditioning systems.
There is workshop experience in:
- fabrication and assembly techniques
- wiring
- cabling
- basic installation skills

It must be noted that ESV requires direct application by individuals for the different classes of electrical inspection licenses, specifies additional mentoring work and ESV assessment requirements before the licence may be granted.

Certificate II (Employment) outcomes focus on the development of English language speaking, listening, reading and writing skills and knowledge in the context of the Australian workplace.
Participants may have differing levels of work experience and in diverse contexts prior to coming to Australia.
Others will have had no workplace experience.
The qualification includes outcomes focussing on preparation for employment, employability skills, literacy skills including digital literacy skills, and awareness of basic workplace safety and work culture in the Australian context.

Course purpose
Certificate IV (Further Study) outcomes are designed for those who require consolidation of advanced level English speaking and listening, reading, writing, literacy skills including digital literacy skills, and study skills in English prior to accessing a range of further study pathways including higher education.
Participants include those who have already completed or partially completed further or higher education, those who wish to upgrade their qualifications and those wishing to enter higher level qualifications for the first time.
The purpose of this course is to develop communication and research skills and knowledge at a complex level together with knowledge of the Australian education system.
Outcomes are designed to support those who will use their existing skills and knowledge in their language in the workplace, for example as interpreters and providing bilingual support, to gain access to further training to support employment.
