How Thriving Kids is different from the NDIS
How people access the NDIS won’t change until 1 January 2028.
From that date, children aged 8 and under with developmental delay or autism and low to moderate support needs will no longer have access to the NDIS.
Thriving Kids will support these children and their families.
Thriving Kids will not provide children and their families with a budget to spend on services like the NDIS does.
Thriving Kids supports and services will be funded directly or delivered by the Commonwealth and Victorian governments.
How Thriving Kids is being developed
Victoria recognises the importance of input from parents and carers, early years professionals, disability organisations, health services and the community sector in shaping the Thriving Kids model.
We will continue to engage with the community and the Commonwealth Government as we design and deliver Thriving Kids.
Working with and for First Nations Victorians
The Victorian Government is committed to Aboriginal self-determination.
We are working with First Nations communities to make sure that Thriving Kids services and supports are culturally safe.
By recognising culture as a building block for healthy development, Thriving Kids will enable First Nations families to engage with and access services and supports.
