Where to get Thriving Kids support

All Victorian children will have access to 2 new developmental checks through Thriving Kids, and some children may be eligible for allied health support. These supports will be rolled out from January 2027.

Allied health support and developmental checks

Victoria is delivering a range of targeted allied health and other support services through Thriving Kids from 2027 as part of a staged roll-out.

Time-limited allied health support for children and their families will help children build everyday skills and independence. It will also help families understand how to support their child’s development.

If, and how often your child receives allied health support and for how long will depend on their needs.

The Victorian Department of Education is also delivering two new developmental checks – one as each child starts kinder, and one as they start school. These will be rolled out across Victoria during 2027.

These checks will take about 30-45 minutes and may identify that your child would benefit from Thriving Kids supports. This may include a referral to a local Thriving Kids team in the department who will determine what support you and your child are eligible for.

Thriving Kids allied health supports and developmental checks will be rolled out progressively across Victoria in 3 stages throughout 2027.
