On 21 July a further 23 organisations signed the Victorian Digital Skills Compact at a signing event held at the National Communication Museum joining the 25 organisations that signed earlier this year.
The compact brings together government, industry and training providers to strengthen digital and artificial intelligence (AI) skills across Victoria. It focuses on improving access to digital training pathways, creating more inclusive opportunities and supporting workers, students and teachers to develop skills for a changing job market, now and into the future.
Digital skills are increasingly important across almost all areas of the economy, with Victoria projected to need an additional 87,700 digital workers by 2035. Meeting this challenge requires collaboration across government, employers, peak bodies, membership organisations, and the broader education and training sector.
The compact will help address this workforce demand through supporting closer collaboration and co-design between employers, TAFEs and other providers and government.
The compact also aligns with the work of the recently announced Digital, AI and Technology Centre of Excellence at Chisholm Institute’s Frankston campus.
