Building the future – careers in construction

Victoria’s construction sector continues to grow rapidly. The work is hands-on, rewarding and practical. With many transport and building projects underway – such as the Suburban Rail Loop, new hospitals and residential homes – Victoria needs more skilled construction workers.

Amber takes on the world following VET journey

Amber started an engineering and fabrication apprenticeship whilst studying a Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade – Boilermaking to build a meaningful career that would carry her through life. Her drive to master advanced welding skills led her to win the WorldSkills Regional Competition, and she was named the 2025 Victorian Apprentice of the Year. She now aims to work on renewable energy projects like wind turbines to make a real impact.
