The Global Dialogue
The six months before the conference is known as the Global Dialogue.
During the Global Dialogue, advocates from around the world will come together to discuss and exchange knowledge about girls’ and women’s rights issues. These events may be in-person, online or hybrid.
Together with the Regional Committee, we will be working with advocates and stakeholders across our region to:
- showcase work and solutions
- enable regional knowledge sharing
- build solidarity across diverse stakeholders to advance gender equality.
The Pacific and Melbourne convening events provide an opportunity for regional gender equality priorities to be identified, and to build momentum towards and prepare to represent those priorities on the global stage in Rwanda.
Pacific Convening event - Fiji
11 and 12 May 2023
Gender equality advocates and activists from across the Pacific region met to have critical conversations about gender equality priorities and how to amplify them. There were panel discussions, workshops and networking sessions.
Advocates and activists exchanged ideas and perspectives on coordinating collective action to address the issues faced by girls and women in the region.
Delegates were nominated to attend the event. The nomination process ensured diverse representation, including voices from marginalised communities, to foster an inclusive and meaningful dialogue.
The top five priorities identified through the Pacific Convening are:
- climate justice
- decolonisation
- ending gender-based violence and violence against women and girls in all their diversity
- women's economic equity and safe, sustainable livelihoods
- resourcing for women's human rights.
