We fund up to 10 fellowships each year valued at AUD$13,000 each for vocational education and training (VET) practitioners to undertake applied research in an international context.
The International VET Practitioner Fellowship Program, delivered in partnership with the International Specialised Skills (ISS) Institute(opens in a new window) provides practitioners with the opportunity to enhance their knowledge in one of the following priority areas of development:
- quality training with connections to emerging or ongoing industry needs
- educational approaches that support inclusion and increase participation
- education and training that supports the skills needed for a clean economy.
As part of their research, fellows undertake a variety of activity which may include meeting knowledgeable industry leaders, conducting interviews with VET leaders or practitioners, observing and studying teaching or workplace practices, immersing in new workplaces and environments, undertaking specialised training or attending a specialist conference.
At the conclusion of their fellowship, each practitioner produces a research report. Research findings not only benefit the individual fellow but also the broader VET sector. Read a selection of the recent reports below, or search all VSA-funded reports(opens in a new window).
The program has been operating since 1999 and supports Skills First Program(opens in a new window) priorities, which include to build workers’ capacity and capability, listen to and address industry needs in training, develop innovative training practices, and support participation and diversity in the VET sector.
