The International Specialised Skills Institute (ISSI) hosted its 2025 Fellowship Awards Ceremony in December, celebrating excellence in specialised skills and industry led innovation.

Established with a mission to foster excellence in specialised skills, the ISSI plays a crucial role in bridging the skills gap in various industries. Through its fellowships, scholarships and professional development opportunities, ISSI empowers individuals and organisations to deliver transformative outcomes for communities and industries, with research outputs continuing to advance specialised skills and build capability.

The recent awards ceremony brought together an inspiring cohort of industry leaders and innovators to celebrate their outstanding contributions to professional excellence. This year’s fellows represented fields including trades, design and management, each demonstrating exceptional talent, creativity and a commitment to applying specialised knowledge to drive innovation.

A highlight of the evening was an address from our Chief Executive Officer Craig Robertson, who reflected on the Victorian Skills Authority’s longstanding partnership supporting fellowship opportunities.

“We have been collaborating with ISSI through the Fellowship program for more than 20 years. Through this partnership, we annually support 10 International VET Practitioner Fellows, enabling research and engagement with international experts to bring new skills and best-practice back to Victoria.”

The event served as not only a celebration of achievements but also as an opportunity to reflect on accomplishments and look ahead to future skills development. As the ISSI continues to forge new paths for skills development and innovation, the evening was a reminder of what is possible when individuals are empowered to reach their full potential, supported by an organisation committed to their success.
