Joe had studied furniture design and worked in the industry, but hearing loss led him to explore career options in quieter work environments. A careers adviser connected him with the TAFE Gippsland Skills and Jobs Centre, where he met with Fiona, who helped him explore different career and training options.
This led Joe to study professional writing and editing at TAFE Gippsland, with the goal of moving into a quieter, office-based role. Halfway through his studies, he also discovered that the course had helped him reconnect with his creativity.
Joe found the support provided by the Skills and Jobs Centre extremely helpful. He believes that others who are looking for career advice, or are unsure about their next steps, could also benefit from these services.
“I think other people could benefit from the Skills and Jobs Centre if they’re seeking advice. I know I definitely did when I was looking for a bit of direction.”
