Victorian Skills Authority Board Chair - The Hon. Jenny Macklin AC

Jenny served 23 years as the Federal Member for Jagajaga. She was Deputy Leader of the Federal Parliamentary Labor Party from 2001-06, the first woman in a major Australian political party to hold the role.

Jenny served as the Minister for Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, and the Minister for Disability Reform, overseeing the Apology to the Stolen Generations and development of the Closing the Gap framework; the introduction of Australia’s first National Paid Parental Leave Scheme; the largest increase to the pension in its history; and the design and implementation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). She was also integral to the establishment of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

Jenny played a key role in establishing the Victorian Skills Authority through her review of Victoria’s vocational education and training system in 2020.
