Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) is housing designed for people with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs.
The Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (the department) is a registered National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) SDA provider.
Our purpose is to provide safe and secure homes that maximise resident choice, independence and participation in the community.
Delivering a safe and high quality service
Our residents have the right to live in safe and secure homes. We make sure residents are supported and live in a safe environment that respects their rights, dignity and needs.
We have developed policies and procedures based on research to make sure we deliver a safe and high quality service.
These policies and procedures:
- Protect people’s safety and wellbeing by making sure everyone delivering NDIS services understands what abuse is and how to report it.
- Protect people’s rights and support them to make their own choices and live as independently as possible.
- Identify possible risks to people’s safety and take action to prevent harm.
- Help people living in SDA know why, how, when and where to complain.
- Support the choices and decisions of people living in SDA accommodation.
- Make sure we keep improving how we keep residents safe by doing reviews, listening to resident feedback and staying up to date with any changes to rules or laws.
