High quality and safe homes

How the department and SIL provider can work together to ensure residents are living in high quality and safe homes.

Accessing homes for maintenance

The SIL provider can request repairs and will provide support in the event of an emergency or disaster. Contact us if you need any assistance or need to request any repairs or maintenance.

To request repairs, contact:

Phone: 1300 292 512 (24/7)

Email: sda.maintenance@dffh.vic.gov.au

Online: Request a repair form

Access for contractors

Before a contractor visits the property, the SIL provider needs to make them aware of any risks and ensure all Occupational Health and Safety compliance measures are in place.

When the contractor arrives on-site, house staff must give them a site induction. This includes explaining risk controls, emergency evacuation procedures and other relevant instructions to keep everyone safe.

Repairs to Fire Services Systems

Air Master is contracted by the department to respond to all maintenance of essential fire and generator safety services. The following items should be reported directly to Air Master:

  • carbon monoxide detectors
  • smoke detectors
  • back-up generators
  • fire sprinklers
  • door strikers
  • other fire-related systems and items.

To report an issue, call Air Master on 03 9543 8999.

Restrictive practices

For any maintenance or modification requests that result in environmental restraints – such as locks on cupboards, gates or doors, restricted access to areas, taps, or light switches– staff must first receive confirmation from the Authorised Program Officer (APO). For more information on restrictive practices please contact us.
