Road safety cameras in Victoria are tested regularly to make sure they work accurately and safely.
Speed verification
Each potential offence captured by a road safety camera is thoroughly scrutinised and an infringement notice (fine) is only issued if Victoria Police is satisfied an offence has occurred.
Flashed but not speeding or running a red light
If you see a road safety camera flash and you know you were not speeding or driving through a red light, there is no need to worry.
Road safety camera system oversight
Oversight of Victoria’s road safety camera system is provided by the Department of Justice and Community Safety.
