Road safety camera testing, certification and maintenance
Victoria’s road safety cameras, both fixed and mobile, are tested regularly by independent officers to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the equipment.
Speed verification
Each potential offence captured by a road safety camera is thoroughly scrutinised and an infringement notice (fine) is only issued if Victoria Police is satisfied an offence has occurred.
Flashed but not speeding or driving against a red-light
Sometimes cameras flash when they are testing to ensure that the camera is working properly and complies with all requirements.
Road Safety Camera Commissioner
The Office of the Road Safety Camera Commissioner (ORSCC) is an independent statutory office that was established in 2012 to provide a safe environment for Victorian road users by increasing community confidence in the integrity, transparency, accuracy, reliability and efficiency of the Victorian road safety camera system.
