How to address royalty and officials

This page provides guidance on the correct forms of address when writing to, referring to or meeting a member of the royal family, a government official, diplomatic and consular corps and religious leaders.

Please note the salutation guidelines below are generic in relation to using gendered titles such as “Mr/Ms/Mrs”. We recommend the use of salutations as per the relevant official’s preference, if specified.
