About the Reportable Conduct Scheme
The Victorian Reportable Conduct Scheme requires some organisations to respond to allegations of child abuse and neglect made against their workers and volunteers.
These organisations must notify the Social Services Regulator of any allegations and investigate.
Our role is to:
- support organisations to promote, fair, effective and appropriate responses
- independently oversee, monitor and make recommendations to improve the responses of those organisations.
The scheme enables the SSR to share information with relevant organisations, regulators and sectors to better prevent and protect children from abuse.

Types of reportable conduct
There are five types of reportable conduct under the Reportable Conduct Scheme. See a short description of each in our what is reportable conduct information sheet.
The types of reportable conduct include:
- sexual offences
- sexual misconduct
- physical violence
- behaviour that causes significant emotional or psychological harm
- significant neglect.
