Lutfiye Kavci is a family violence survivor who turned her horrific experience into creating positive change for others.

Lutfiye survived a vicious attempted murder by her ex-husband in 2021, suffering multiple stab wounds that required surgery and extensive treatment. At the trial, she gave a moving victim impact statement, declaring: 'I’m still here.'

Those words have become a rallying message of resilience and survival. Lutfiye realised her strength was inspiring to others. In 2024 she dedicated herself to advocacy for family violence victim-survivors and homelessness.

She became a guest speaker, organised rallies, and worked with the Victims of Crime Commissioner Lived Experience Advisory Group.

Lutfiye lives in Shepparton, northern Victoria, and runs a small business called Mylkly, selling silicone breastmilk storage bottles. She is also studying Community Services.

Lutfiye's advocacy has inspired many people and is a true example of claiming life back.

'I have the power to make a change, and I will give all my determination to make that happen,' she says. 'I am a woman, I am a mother, I am stronger than you.'
