Marine pollution exercise obsidian

The Department of Transport and Planning is holding a marine pollution exercise on 7 May 2025 between 10am and 3pm.

Exercise Obsidian is a training field exercise.

There is no danger to community, wildlife or the environment.

The Victorian Marine Pollution Response Team will participate with local councils and other agencies.

There will be activity in the foreshore area of No 1 Beach, Venus Bay and the Tarwin Lower Boat Ramp on 7 May as participants train for maritime emergency responses at sea, such as cleaning up oil spills.

You may see responders dressed in protective clothing who will be working in the water and on the foreshore.

Please avoid these locations and give participants the space they need to do this important training.
