Female Student:
If I could choose one word to describe a good teacher it would be...
Male Student:
Understanding.
Female Student:
Patience.
Female Student:
Caring.
Male Student:
Passionate.
Female Student:
I think it's just so important to feel supported, to feel encouraged by your teachers.
Because that's what allows you to feel confident in yourself.
Female Student:
What really separates a teacher from the internet or a textbook is that they really have to care about their students and about what they're teaching.
Female Student:
A teacher really has to be patient with you to really get to know you and get to understand how you learn and how you want to learn as well.
Male Student:
Once that sort of level has been established, and that connection has been established, it just sets a foundation for the whole year.
Male Student:
A great teacher is like one that you’ll remember years on in the future. And it's really not just for the lessons they taught you but it's sort of the impact on the person you are today.
Female Student:
It's so important to have a teacher you connect with because VCE is demanding. Bottom line, it's a really demanding few years.
Male Student:
Just having that support pillar, someone that we can always rely on or someone that we can always ask questions. It really just helps ground us and centre us. For me, Mr. Bedier was just someone who reassured me that at the end of the day, I was going to be okay.
Female Student:
Ms Mighell, my work related teacher.
Male Student:
Leigh Harris, my engineering teacher.
Female Student:
My literature teacher, Ms Spanos. She was just incredible. I think the reason that I loved her so much and I admired her so much, and continue to admire her, is because she had such a passion for literature and such a passion for books that I couldn't help but fall in love with them myself.
Male Student:
Um, he was just very knowledgeable about the things he taught. Yeah, on the metalworking side of things, that was something he loved, and he loved sharing all of his knowledge with me.
Male Student:
My English teacher, Ms Molloy. She actually had a speech. She was like, Will Crocker was a pest because I’d get an email from him every, like, two hours. But she'd always reply as fast as she could. Just giving me feedback and helping me learn.
Female Student:
If I could say one thing to my teachers right now, I would say thank you. Not just for teaching me but for everything you have done for me and everything that you are to me.
Female Student:
Thanks for believing in me and for... just having the patience with me and not giving up.
Male Student:
Thank you for everything you did for me. I really appreciate it. And I couldn't have got the results I did without you. Pretty much.
Female Student:
I owe a lot of my love for literature and for books to you. And... I think of her, her wisdom, nearly every day.
Male Student:
I'd have to first just thank him for... Thank him for everything, really. Just having him as sort of like a constant. Always there, always encouraging. I couldn't really be any more grateful for that.
Female Student:
Thank you for inspiring me, for motivating me, for challenging me. Thank you for teaching me to be better.
Female Student:
If you have somebody that you feel supports you and is looking out for you and encourages you and has your back, then you’re more than well enough equipped to back yourself and to do the best that you possibly can.
