Sir James’ family, friends and colleagues celebrated his life of service and reflected on his legacy and contributions to the Victorian community.
The Service commenced with a welcome from Very Reverend Werner Utri, Dean of St Patrick’s Cathedral. This was followed by a rendition of the Australian National Anthem, performed by Dr Brianna Chesser.
Sir James’ memory was then honoured by the Governor, Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AC, followed by tributes from friends and family, including from Jeremy Gobbo KC and Allan Myers AC KC.
The State Funeral Service concluded with a requiem mass led by Archbishop Peter Comensoli, after which Sir James’ coffin was escorted from the Cathedral.
