Specialist family violence position holders review police files and cases

As part of our approach, Victoria Police will develop an audit framework to support specialist family violence position holders to monitor compliance with the Victoria Police Code of Practice.

Victoria Police has developed a review framework to support specialist family violence position holders to monitor compliance with the Code of Practice for the Investigation of Family Violence and other family violence procedural requirements (for example, in the Victoria Police Manual).

Victoria Police has incorporated this review function into the remit of specialist family violence position holders as part of the baseline operating model for specialist family violence policing. Victoria Police’s new investigative model includes the development of a critical role from a monitoring and compliance perspective.

The divisional Family Violence Training Officers (FVTOs) are responsible for the delivery of contemporary training including the provision of feedback to participants on their performance and progress, evaluating training, and the monitoring of operating practices in order to identify potential or recurring problems that may indicate a need for change in training.
