Victoria Police develop a new family violence performance management and reporting framework

Recommendations 46, 47 and 48 make up the Strategy and Performance Work package and will be progressed together as a stream of related work. This stream will see the development of new Violence against Women and Children Strategy, a new reporting framework and new measures to track police performance against the strategy.

The new family violence performance management framework will ensure accountability and inform the allocation of resources to family violence. The framework will aim to ensure service levels are consistent and outcomes are aligned with Victoria Police organisational strategy and expectations.

The new Victoria Police strategy for family violence, sexual offences and child abuse was launched on 8 December 2017. Policing Harm, Upholding the Right: Victoria Police Strategy for Family Violence, Sexual Offences and Child Abuse 2018-2023 was developed with extensive input across Victoria Police and informed by feedback from experts and service providers across the family violence sector.

The strategy outlines Victoria Police’s objectives in responding to family violence, sexual offending and child abuse over the next 5 years. Supported by a new comprehensive performance measurement framework, the strategy ensures that Victoria Police responses enhance victim safety and perpetrator accountability.
