Karen has been the CEO of Ballarat and District Aboriginal Cooperative (BADAC) since 2004.
Under her leadership, BADAC has increased in size from about 40 staff to 100. As a result, she has increased jobs for local Aboriginal people and services and programs that meet the needs of the rapidly growing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the region.
Karen has introduced a wide range of family support services, including family violence programs, kinship care, mental health, drug and alcohol and housing and justice.
Her advocacy for Aboriginal people drives her to celebrate, contribute, promote and recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's stories and life experiences.
