John, a plumber and an employer: I’ve been in business 40 years and I still get on with apprentices I’ve had over that time. I participated in the survey, cos’ there’s something I can put back and throw a bit of knowledge back onto the other apprentices coming through the field. I think one of the biggest things borne out of the survey was a bit more communication from the TAFEs to the employer. It also brings out your performance, say that you’re performing well to the apprentice so those skills that you’re teaching are then transported to TAFE as well, when he’s doing things.
