Safer Internet Day - 11 February 2020

The internet is such an integral part of our daily lives.

We have an expectation that we, our families and colleagues can interact with each other over the internet in a safe and respectful manner.

In reflecting on this year’s theme of ‘together for a safer internet’, for me the key is about building resilience.

At one end we need to build resilience through online safety education around preparedness – the better prepared we are, the less likely it is that we will be affected by an online threat

And at the other end, we need to build resilience following an online incident – knowing what to do and who to call to report an incident is important in staying safe.

Safer Internet Day on 11 Feb is a very important initiative in raising awareness about online safety so collectively we can inspire positive change.

It’s a privilege to join with Julie Inman Grant, eSafety Commissioner, eSafety Day Champions, and our colleagues to work together to turn our expectations of a safer internet into reality.
