Docklands cladding rectification project

[Louise Clarke, Owners Corporation Chair]: We had combustible cladding for 349 apartments mainly on their verandahs and around their windows. For me, it has just been, you know, a really great project. It's been fantastic to have the support of everybody.

[Morgan Ferguson, Clerk of Works inspector]: The collaboration between everyone on this project was really good, there was good design, a good setup and a good build team to execute as well, so they were quite receptive and quite proactive.

[Ricky Hou, Site Supervisor]: When the panels were coming on to site on pallets it took a couple of hours for [the crew] to hand load them onto the hoist and bring them up here. We created this really big cage to transport the brand new panels here. It saved us about an hour or two every single time. Another innovative thing that we did was the handrail. Instead of building a whole perimeter of scaffold around the whole building we could just install the handrail as we go, and pull it down when we were done.

[Mick Summerhayes, Project Manager]: There needs to be really clear communication on access - there's a lot of people to keep happy and a lot of questions that need to be answered. Louise from the owners corporation played a big part in that as well.

[Louise Clarke, Owners Corporation Chair]: I think communication is the biggest key. Not just with the team that are replacing your cladding, but with the owners, your residents. Keep them informed, keep them knowing what's happening. It's not just about owners who have increased their asset value, it's about the people that live here that are hands on the ground that actually benefit from this change so we'd like to thank them for that.
