Reflective practice is a workshop that aims to develop strategies for peer-to-peer reflective practice.

Workshop participants will explore the principles and theoretical underpinnings of reflective practice and be able to identify the characteristics of effective reflection on practice. The workshop enables professionals to practice skills and strategies involved in the facilitation of reflective practices with colleagues and parents.

A reflective practitioner seeks opportunities for changing and improving the effectiveness of their work. However, the concept of reflective practice is largely understood as a way to think about how one approaches their work to solve problems rather than being supported by a colleague to analyse their practice to inform actions that promote beneficial outcomes. Whilst reflective practices are interested in examining a difficult situation, a problem or a concern about one's practice and discovering alternative practice approaches, a critical part of the process (which is often overlooked) must be consideration of the values, principles and theories which help inform our everyday practice.

The three-hour Reflective Practice workshop is available online or face-to-face.

Educators participating in this program will:

• understand the guiding principles and theoretical underpinnings of reflective practice
• be able to articulate the outcomes of effective reflection on practice
  experience effective strategies for peer-to-peer reflective practice.

Learning objectives include:

• development of a shared understanding in relation to what constitutes effective reflective practice
• enhancement of understanding of the connection between theory, leading practice and practice reflection.

• $360 per participant (including GST)
• Full workshop exclusively for service educators with a minimum of 8 and maximum of 15 participants: $5,400 (including GST) per workshop

Face-to-face workshop (Metropolitan Melbourne):

• $383 per participant (including GST)
• Full workshop exclusively for service educators with a minimum of 8 and maximum of 15 participants: $5,745 (including GST) per workshop plus travel expenses

Face-to-face workshop (Regional Victoria within an hour of Melbourne):

• Additional travel time and travel expenses may incur additional costs

• Costs are based on standard weekday pricing. Out of hours are negotiated at additional cost
• This workshop is available for single registrants through the Centre for Community Child Health training calendar

Payment Schedule

• Payments online due at time of booking
• For organisational workshops - payment is required upon acceptance of a quote. Training dates will be confirmed once payment is received
• Invoices are due within 14 days

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation/rescheduling by the contracting organisation will incur costs associated with any preparatory work undertaken by MCRI. These costs will be invoiced in full. Any travel cancellation expenses will also be invoiced in full.

Quoted work – Organisational event/training program

We require 6 weeks' notice to cancel or reschedule an event/training program, otherwise additional charges apply:

1. 100% of the quoted price will be refunded if we receive at least 6 weeks’ notice less costs incurred at point 2
2. 50% of the quoted price will be refunded if we receive between 3 and 6 weeks’ notice less costs incurred at point 2
3. Cancellations received less than 3 weeks before the event/training program is scheduled are not entitled to a refund

In the event of cancellation by the attendee/s registered to attend an advertised workshop on our training calendar:

1. 100% refund will be given, provided we receive notification of cancellation at least 21 days prior to the workshop, less an administration fee
2. 50% refund will be given, provided we receive notification of cancellation at least 14 days prior to the workshop
3. Cancellations received less than 14 days before the workshop are not entitled to a refund.
4. MCRI will provide a full refund to an individual attendee if there was a significant verifiable reason (e.g. Doctors Certificate) for a ‘no show” and MCRI could not book the attendee into another workshop
5. Certificate of completion is provided following attendance at all sessions of the workshop
