Lily completed the department's Child Protection Employment Program (CPEP). CPEP is a paid opportunity where participants learn about child protection in a structured and supportive environment, working alongside experienced practitioners.
Lily received a conditional letter of offer pending completing her qualifications. She said the CPEP enhanced her knowledge of child protection.
‘I hadn’t realised there’s so much that goes into each case, into working with each child, including collaborating with services, organising referrals, and continually assessing the risk to children, and acting on your assessments.’
Lily said knowing children have more safety and protection and their needs are being met was a highlight. She said the CPEP was an incredible opportunity to make real, positive differences in the lives of vulnerable children and families.
‘The CPEP was a great way to grow as a person and expand skills – it put real-world experience together with my degree in a fantastic way, and that’s continued into my part-time role with the department.’
‘The CPEP was challenging, but in a good and rewarding way. It’s been very gratifying. I love being able to see the positive impact I’m having.’
