Cybercriminals love to take advantage of the end of financial year (EOFY) through retail and tax scams.
This may include using text messages, phone calls, and social media accounts pretending to be organisations such as the Australian Tax Office. They may also use emails and fake websites to impersonate retail services offering EOFY sales.
We’re reminding all Victorians to stay cyber safe with these tips:
- Beware of unsolicited communications.
- Think twice before you click on links.
- Never share sensitive or personal information like your birth date, home address or drivers licence number.
- Question any requests for money.
- Longer is stronger when it comes to passwords. Or better still use a passphrase.
- Enable multi-factor authentication wherever it is available.
