Throughout her career Karen has been celebrated for her open and transparent leadership of collaborative action and support for communities in the Latrobe Valley and Gippsland.
In 2017 Karen was appointed CEO of the Latrobe Valley Authority, to lead the response and recovery efforts in the Latrobe Valley following the closure of the Hazelwood Coal Mine.
Challenging the business as usual top-down approach to community renewal, Karen’s commitment to working directly with the Latrobe Valley community required extraordinary courage and patience.
Under Karen’s leadership, the Latrobe Valley is now connected, collaborative and resilient with an understanding of what needs to be done to ensure their positive future.
