Ms Nerida Kerr is celebrated for her dedication, commitment and leadership in her community. She has lived in the Indigo Shire all her life, and in Barnawartha since 2001.

Nerida recently received the Indigo Shire Australia Day 2013 Barnawartha and District Achievement Award. She is described as an outstanding community member who dedicates much of her time to numerous groups including as Secretary and Treasurer of the Barnawartha Recreation Reserve Committee of Management, member of the Red Cross Emergency Services, the Barnawartha Development Association, and the Barnawartha Primary School Council. Nerida is a founding member and Chair of the Rural Financial Counselling Service, which was established in 1996.

Nerida received the Alpine Valleys Agribusiness Innovation Award in 2009 and was a Regional Winner of the ABC Rural Woman of the Year Award in 1995.

Nerida coordinated a Farm Skills for Women Program and the 1993 Women on Farms Gathering in Tallangatta. Nerida is also member of the Alpine Valleys Community Leadership Program Dommittee, where she has served on the Board since the program's inception in 1999.

Nerida led the development of the Goulburn Murray Hume AgCare Ltd in 2006 and served on its Board until July 2012, when she became Executive Officer. With a group of dedicated rural women, Nerida actively lobbied for the provision of childcare for farming and rural families for over five years, which resulted in the establishment of the Farm and Rural Mobile Services for Children.
