Maidstone community update September 2023

Early works are well underway to prepare for major construction of the Maidstone tram maintenance and stabling facility.

Major road works this October

The new facility will be home to Melbourne’s new next-generation G Class trams, which will start rolling out locally on routes 57, 59 and 82 from 2025.

We’ll be working on local roads in Maidstone and Maribyrnong during October to move underground services ahead of new tram tracks being laid next year.

During this construction period we’ll close the intersection of Hampstead, Williamson and Wests roads and there will be changes to public transport.

Access to properties and businesses will be maintained at all times during these works.

Changes to the way you travel

We’re closing the intersection and sections of Hampstead, Williamson and Wests roads from 9pm Friday 6 October to Saturday 28 October.

Buses replace trams on Route 82 from first tram Saturday 7 October to last tram Tuesday 10 October.

There will also be changes to bus routes 215, 406 and 408, including the Route 406 night network service.

Please plan ahead and allow extra time
