Fishermans Bend Potential Future Train Tunnel

A Planning Permit may be required to construct a building or carry out works on land that is near the location of the potential future train tunnel in Fishermans Bend.

Protecting the potential future rail tunnel

The Fishermans Bend Integrated Transport Plan identifies the future route for a potential future train tunnel with stations at Docklands (near Southern Cross Station) and Fishermans Bend (Sandridge Precinct and the Innovation Precinct). A Specific Controls Overlay, and related Fishermans Bend Rail Protection Incorporated Document (DTP 2026), applies to land near the future train tunnel. The overlay and incorporated document work together to protect the future train tunnel by ensuring that new development is appropriately designed.

Referral to Head, Transport for Victoria

Where a planning permit is required under the overlay and incorporated document, the planning permit application must be referred to Head, Transport for Victoria (Head, TfV).
