My name is Aishwarya Viswanath i choose
to challenge attitudes that condone violence
and place blame on women and children
victim survivors I came to Australia in 2015
and i work in the family violence sector
there has been an increase in adult and
child victim survivors experiencing family violence especially
during the pandemic so as a woman if i have to think about
how it is to be trapped in a position
where i cannot access support where i
don't have connection to the community i
don't have connection to family and
friends and i'm with someone who's constantly
oppressing me that would be really
really hard if there's anything that i do know about
women and children
i do know that they're very resilient
despite everything that's happening in a few
people's lives with the most difficult
situations they are still managing to
keep themselves and their families safe
international women's day is important
